Swift Current Legionnaires
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires scored four second-period goals on their way to a 6-3 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Generals for their fourth win in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League this season.
The Legionnaires were outshot 14-6 in the first period but were tied 1-1 heading into the second period. They scored four goals in the second period and then each team scored once in the final period for a 6-3 final tally.
Kolby Johnson and Morgan Greve both scored twice for the host Legionnaires. Greve scored twice on the man-advantage as the Legionnaires scored twice on 10 powerplay opportunities and held the Generals scoreless on five man-advantages. Shane Blomquist picked up the win with 32 saves on 35 shots.
Connor Odelein had three assists and defenseman Evan Armstrong added a pair of helpers. Jarett Gerlach and Bryce Hall also scored, while Reid Fritzke, Chaseton Sare, Tanner Brewster, Tristan Hermanson, and Colton Adam all added single assists.
The Legionnaires improved to 4-11-2-0 and sit 10th in the SMAAAHL and Moose Jaw dropped to 7-6-0-0 and sit eighth.
The Legionnaires will be back at home for two games this weekend against the third-place Prince Albert Mintos (7-5-3-0) on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the Credit Union iplex.
