The Cypress Cyclones played two games last week in the Prairie Junior Hockey League.
The Cyclones opened the week with a 5-2 win over the Silver Foxes Tuesday in Pense. The Cyclones trailed 2-0 after 20:51 before scoring five unanswered goals for their second win of the season.
Brody Beckstand scored twice, Blake Sanderson and Drew Soderberg each had a goal and an assist, and Chris Bartlett added two assists. Keegan Ham also scored, while Tyler Logan and Nick Gillies added assists. Hunter Jackson picked up the win with 30 saves on 32 shots.
Saturday, the Cyclones were on the wrong end of a 9-2 final tally against the visiting Saskatoon Royals. Brendan Schmiess scored both goals for the Cyclones and Sanderson added two assists. Gillies also added an assist and Jackson suffered the loss despite making 52 saves in the Cyclones’ goal.
The Cyclones finished the week with a 2-8-0 record. The Cyclones will host three PJHL games this week beginning Saturday at 8 p.m. when the Ochapowac Thunder (0-8-0) hit the Maple Creek Arena ice. The Saskatoon Quakers (6-1-1) will visit Sunday at 3 p.m. and Fort Knox (4-2-1) invades on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
