The Swift Current K Motel AA Midget Hurricanes remain unbeaten after eight games
The Swift Current K Motel Hurricanes continue to be the class of the South Sask Midget AA Hockey League as they remained unbeaten in their first eight games with two weekend wins over the visiting Notre Dame Argos.
Friday, the Hurricanes got 26 saves from Blade Roh in a 4-0 win over the Argos. Colton Adam scored twice, Jordan Wittman assisted on both of his goals, and Josh Dickie added a goal and an assist in the win.
The Hurricanes fired 23 shots on goal over the first 40 minutes but only managed a first-period goal from Dickie to lead 1-0. The Hurricanes scored three goals over 3:14 in the third period to seal the win. Adam scored first, followed by a Thomas Hammerton goal 1:14 later and then another Adam goal two minutes later. Wade Auger, Austin LaRochelle, and Connor Kennedy all added assists.
Saturday, the Hurricanes got third-period goals from Adam and Tanner Fritzke to defeat the Notre Dame Argos 4-2. LaRochelle and Hammerton also scored in the win. Wittman and Brody Knelson each had two assists, while Parker Wall, Trenton Zakalzuny, and Kennedy added single helpers and Logan Tisdale picked up the win in goal.
The weekend sweep improved the Hurricanes league leading record to 7-0-1. The Hurricanes will play the third game in a seven-game homestand on Wednesday when they host the Regina Capitals (2-2-1) at 8:15 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
