The Swift Current Broncos, playing their third game in as many days, dropped to 0-4 on their U.S. Division road trip with a 4-1 loss to the Everett Silvertips Sunday.
The Silvertips beat starter Eetu Laurikainen for three goals on their 13 first-period shots to take a commanding lead to the dressing room.
Julius Honka scored his fifth goal of the season for the Broncos during a second-period powerplay to make a game of it but the hosts responded with a goal late in the middle stanza to close the scoring.
Laurikainen took the loss with 10 saves on 13 shots to fall to 3-6-0-1 and has now lost five of his past six starts. Landon Bow made 16 saves on 17 shots in a relief appearance. Austin Lotz earned the win for Everett with 25 saves.
Joshua Winquist, Ivan Nikolishin, Manraj Hayer, and Tyler Sandhu all scored for Everett in front of 3,837 fans at Comcast Arena.
Everett remains among the top teams in the Western Hockey League with an 8-2-2-0 record. Swift Current dropped to 6-7-0-1 with their fourth straight loss.
The Broncos will have a badly needed day off Monday before concluding their road trip on Tuesday against the Tri-City Americans.
