The Swift Current Legionnaires fell 2-1 to Moose Jaw Thursday
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires had a close call Thursday as they continue to search for their first regular season win in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.
The Legionnaires, behind a 30-save performance from Shane Blomquist, lost 2-1 to the host Moose Jaw Generals. Shane Collins put the Generals ahead in the second period and Riley Cannon made it 2-0 with a power play goal 1:08 into the third period.
Kyler Sachkowski scored for Swift Current in the third period but the Legionnaires were unable to draw even, despite outshooting the hosts 9-7 in the final period. Jarett Gerlach and Carter Doerksen picked up assists on the goal.
Grant Naherniak earned the win for Moose Jaw with 17 saves as the Generals improved to 4-0-0-0 to sit second in the 12-team SMAAAHL.
The Legionnaires dropped to 0-4-1-0 in the loss. They will be in Saskatoon this weekend to face the Blazers (0-4-1-0) on Saturday and the Contacts (1-2-0-0) on Sunday.
