A preseason contest between the Swift Current Broncos and Medicine Hat Tigers lasted only one period due to safety concerns Saturday.

The game, which was being played at the Kinplex in Medicine Hat, was called off due to fog at the end of the first period with the Tigers leading 3-2.

The two teams combined for five goals in the opening 12:41, including the game winner off the stick of Steven Owre on the powerplay to break a 2-2 tie.

Medicine Hat had taken a two-goal lead with goals 36 seconds apart from Chad Labelle and Trevor Cox. The Broncos tied the contest with markers from Cavin Leth and Connor Sanvido, his fourth of the preseason.

Eetu Laurikainen was in goal for Swift Current and made 16 saves on 19 shots in the only period. Keelan Williams made eight saves on 10 shots for the Tigers.

The Broncos will continue the preseason on Friday when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors in Swift Current.
