Broncos break out against Blades

Led by Connor Sanvido and Brycen Martin, the Swift Current Broncos improved to 3-1 in the preseason with a 9-4 win over the Saskatoon Blades Wednesday.

Sanvido scored three goals, including goals only 21 seconds apart in the second period. Martin had five assists from the blueline and now leads all WHL scorers with seven points in three games.

Zac Mackay added a goal and two assists, while Julius Honka, Jay Merkley, and Andrew Johnson all added two assists.

Glenn Gawdin, Jake DeBrusk, Tanner LeSann, and Jordan Wittman also scored for the Broncos, who finished four-for-four on the powerplay.

Greyson Reitmeier, Evan Polei, Graham Millar, and Nolan Reid responded with goals for Saskatoon.

Travis Child picked up the win with 15 saves on 19 shots as Swift CUrrent outshot the visitors 43-19.

The Broncos will be right back on the Credit Union iplex ice when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers on Thursday at 7 p.m.
