The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats were knocked out of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs Thursday with a 3-1 loss to the host Weyburn Wings.

The sixth seeded Wildcats won games two and three over the third seeded Wings but were unable to close out the best-of-five series, losing games four and five at home and on the road.

The Wildcats were outshot 36-18 overall but kept the game scoreless nearly to the midway point before Bailee Bourassa scored for Weyburn. Jenica Whitrow scored to make it 2-0 heading into the third period and Caitlin Dempsey added an insurance marker 4:40 into the third period.

Wildcats captain Delaine Feil scored a powerplay goal with 2:53 left in regulation to cut the deficit to 3-1 but it was the only offense the Wildcats could muster. Brooke McAdam and Brenna Thomson picked up assists. Feil bowed out in second in SFMAAAHL playoff goal scoring with five goals in five games.

Moriah Andrews suffered the loss with 33 saves on 36 shots. Andrews, who has already committed to Red Deer College for next season, was second in the opening round of SFMAAAHL playoffs with a .941 save percentage, stopping 143 of the 152 shots she faced. Weyburn’s Jane Kish allowed three goals on 67 shots in four games for a .957 save percentage in the series.
