The best-of-five Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League playoff series between the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats and the Weyburn Goldwings will go the distance after Weyburn skated to a 3-1 win on Tuesday night.
The Wildcats were outshot 32-12 as a determined Weyburn squad extended the series with a solid road effort in Game Four.
Swift Current gave up a shorthanded goal from Weyburn's Marissa Piriot with 1:10 left in the middle period to find themselves in a 1-0 hole after 40 minutes of play.
The Gold Wings extended their lead to 2-0 when a Cassidy Piriot shot bounced off a body and into the net just 1:26 into the third period. Weyburn went up by a 3-0 margin when Caitlin Dempsey scored from close in with 4:58 left in regulation.
Wildcats forward Delaine Feil continued her hot playoff run, notching her fourth goal and fifth point of the post season when she scored with 4:02 left in regulation.
SFMAAAHL first-team all star goaltender Jane Kish turned aside 18 of 19 shots in the win for Weyburn.
Wildcats netminder Moriah Andrews made 29 saves on 32 shots in the loss.
The sixth seeded Wildcats and third seeded Wings will decide their SFMAAAHL quarter-final series in Weyburn on Thursday.
