The Swift Current K-Motel Hurricanes will be fighting an uphill battle when their South Sask AA Midget Hockey League Provincial Playoff series resumes Thursday.

The Hurricanes dropped the opening game of the two-game total-goals series 2-1 to the visiting Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes fell behind 2-0 after two periods before Kyler Sachkowski scored a powerplay goal in the third period to cut the deficit to just one goal heading into the second game. Trenton Zakaluzny and George Hudec picked up assists on the goal.

Game two of the series, which will determine the league’s representative in the Provincial AA Midget Semi-Final, will be played Thursday at Duncan McNeill Arena in Wilcox.
