The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires snapped a 10-game winless streak with a 6-2 win over the visiting Notre Dame Hounds Thursday.

Luke Grassl made 40 saves and Graham Gove scored twice to lift the Legionnaires to their first win since Jan. 13. Grassl improved to 4-16-7 in the win.

Morgan Greve added a goal and an assist, while defenseman Reid Fritzke added two assists. Devin Deck, Austin LaRochelle, and Jordan Wittman also scored. Evan Armstrong, Edwin Hookenson, Austin Andrusiak, Evan Patrick, Blake Fournier, Connor Odelein, and Dawson Tangen all added assists for Swift Current.

Lane Olson and Hanspeter Senoner replied for the Hounds, who now lead the Legionnaires by just one point for 10th in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League standings.

The Legionnaires, who will miss the playoffs for the eighth time in the past nine seasons, improved to 9-23-7-2 in the win.

The Legionnaires will conclude the regular season this weekend when they host the Yorkton Harvest for a pair of games at the Credit Union iplex.  The two teams will meet Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Yorkton is currently fifth in the standings with a 20-14-5-3 record, one point ahead of the Saskatoon Blazers and three points ahead of the Battlefords Stars.
