Laurikainen shuts out Raiders

The Swift Current Broncos snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders Saturday.

Eetu Laurikainen made 35 saves for his first career shutout to improve to 20-18-2-2 for the Broncos.

The Broncos improved to 3-2-0-1 this season against Prince Albert as the home team has won all six games in the season series.

Luke Siemens was outstanding for Prince Albert with 38 saves on 41 shots to drop to 29-16-2-3.

Adam Lowry and Brett Lernout provided the all the offense the Broncos would need in the first period.

Lowry, 19, opened the scoring 9:43 in with his 34th goal of the season. Lernout, 17, scored his first career goal with a seeing eye shot that put the Broncos ahead 2-0 at the 13:09 mark of the first period.

Chance Lund added an insurance marker with 1:54 left as he used his long reach for a wraparound goal to close the scoring.

The Broncos improved to 26-24-3-2, while Prince Albert dropped to 31-20-2-3.

The Broncos will be back at home Sunday for their third game in as many nights when they host the Eastern Conference leading Edmonton Oil Kings.
