The Edmonton Oil Kings got two goals from Curtis Lazar and 23 saves from Laurent Brossoit as they blanked the visiting Swift Current Broncos 3-0 on Friday.
Lazar scored both goals in the first period, one coming on the powerplay, as he now has 26 goals on the campaign.
David Musil added his sixth of the season in the third period to help seal the win in front of 8,984 fans at Rexall Place in Edmonton.
Eetu Laurikainen dropped to 19-16-2-2 despite making 39 saves on 42 shots for the Broncos. Brossoit, 19, improved to 24-6-2-3 with his third shutout of the season.
The Oil Kings won their third straight game in the season series against the Broncos. The final game between the two teams this season is scheduled for Feb. 10 in Swift Current.
Edmonton continues to lead the Eastern Conference with a 37-11-2-3 record. Swift Current dropped to seventh in the Eastern Conference standings with a 25-22-3-2 mark.
The Broncos will be right back in action Saturday when they visit the Saskatoon Blades. Saskatoon defeated Calgary 6-0 on Friday to move past the Broncos in the Eastern Conference standings.
