The Swift Current Broncos moved into fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 4-3 shootout win over the host Moose Jaw Warriors on Tuesday night.
Graham Black was the shootout hero for the Broncos, converting Swift Current's second shot past Warriors goaltender Justin Paulic for the game winner.
Adam Lowry continued his torrid point streak, scoring his 30th and 31st goals of the season and extending his WHL season leading point streak to 21 games. The Bronco captain has now collected a point in consecutive games dating back to Nov. 20, collecting 21 goals and 35 points during his streak.
Bronco blueliner Dillon Heatherington chipped in with his third goal of the year, ending a 30-game scoreless drought
Moose Jaw had the lone goal of the opening period when Brayden Point scored his 10th of the season just 1:52 into the contest.
The Broncos stormed back with three consecutive goals in the first 14:40 of the middle stanza, capped by a Lowry shorthanded goal. His second goal of the game moved him past Josh Nicholls for the league lead with 31 goals.
Moose Jaw showed their resiliancy when Jordan Messier and Warriors leading scorer Sam Fioretti scored goals 1:15 apart in the final three minutes of the middle period to tie the game at 3-3.
The Broncos dominated the third period with a 12-3 shots on goal advantage, and they had the only two shots in overtime, but they could not find the back of the net until the shootout.
Broncos import goaltender Eetu Laurikainen made 19 saves on 22 shots to earn his 16th win of the year. He was solid in the shootout after facing just nine shots during the final 45 minutes of the game, making shootout stops on Justin Kirsch, Brayden Point and Sam Fioretti.
Paulic took the shootout loss in goal for the Warriors after yielding three goals on 37 shots.
