The Swift Current Broncos snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-2 shootout win over the host Lethbridge Hurricanes Saturday.

Adam Lowry, the Western Hockey League’s Player of the Month in December, scored both Swift Current goals in regulation and added another in the shootout win.

Rookie Landon Bow took part in his first WHL shootout and stopped both shooters after making 34 saves during regulation and overtime to improve to 4-3-1-0. Graham Black scored for the Broncos to end the shootout after only four shooters.

It was the Broncos first shootout win in three attempts this season as they defeated Lethbridge for the first time in the fourth and final game of the season series.

Daniel Johnston scored a powerplay goal for Lethbridge in the first period for a 1-0 lead.

Lowry tied the game on the powerplay four minutes into the third period for the Broncos.

Lowry appeared to have sealed the win with a late goal with only 2:17 remaining in regulation, before Sam Mckechnie tied it just 24 seconds later to force overtime.

Ty Rimmer made 39 saves to drop to 17-17-1-5 for Lethbridge.

Swift Current improved to 18-20-3-2 and remain seventh in the Eastern Conference, while Lethbridge dropped to 19-18-1-5 and remain fifth.

Lowry extended his point streak to 17 games with 17 goals and 13 assists over that stretch. His career high totals now include 27 goals and 56 points in 43 games.

The Broncos will be off until Wednesday when they host the Red Deer Rebels at the Credit Union iplex.

Bronco Bits: The Broncos appeared in overtime for the first time since October 30 after going to overtime in six of their first 18 games. The Broncos overtime record is now two wins, three overtime losses, and two shootout losses. The Broncos improved to 8-12-1-1 on the road and to 4-10-0-0 against the Central Division this season. They have now scored twice in nine shootout attempts and allowed two goals on eight attempts against.
