Hurricanes host Lions Friday

The Swift Current K-Motel Hurricanes will be back on home ice this weekend as they resume their South Sask Midget AA Hockey League schedule.

The Hurricanes will host the last-place Lumsden/Bethune Lions (2-15-2) on Friday at 8:15 p.m. at the Credit Union iplex.

The Lions may have only two wins in 19 attempts this season, but they did author a 3-2 victory over the visiting Hurricanes on Dec. 1. The Hurricanes have won both other meetings in Swift Current by a 10-5 combined score.

The defending league champions entered 2013 in fifth place in the 14-team circuit with an 11-6-5 record.

Veteran Brayden Karmazinuk leads the Hurricanes with 13 assists and 21 points in 20 games this season. Dominic Vallee and George Hudec are tied for the team lead with 10 goals each and sit second and third in points with 20 and 18 respectively.

Goaltender Blade Roh sports a 5-4-1 record with two shutouts and a 2.67 goals against average. Veteran Logan Tisdale is 6-2-4 with a 3.00 GAA heading into 2013.

The Hurricanes will also visit the Regina Flames (12-3-3) on Saturday at the Al Ritchie Arena.
