The Shaunavon Badgers were on top of the White Mud Hockey League standings heading into the holiday break. The Badgers led the seven-team circuit with a 10-1-0-1 record after outscoring their opponents 78-37.
Not far behind in the standings were the Consul Rockets riding a four-game winning streak, one point behind the Badgers with a 10-3-0-0 record. The Gull Lake Greyhounds led the league with 83 goals scored and sat third with a 10-4-0-0 record.
The Leader Flyers sat fourth with a 6-5-0-1 mark, followed by the Eastend Jets (4-7-0-0), the Frontier Flyers (3-7-0-1), and the Cabri Bulldogs (0-13-0-0).
Consul’s Geoff Fisher led a very tight scoring race with 37 points in 13 games and easily led the league with 24 assists. Shaunavon’s Trevor Aadland led the league with 21 goals and was second in points with 36 in 12 games. Gull Lake’s Maverick Holmes was third in league scoring with 35 points in 14 games. Eastend’s Corey Lester and Gull Lake’s Matt Jones and Chad Trapp were all tied with 24 points.
Shaunavon’s Russell Monette led all goaltenders with at least five appearances with a 2.56 goals against average to go along with his 9-1 record. Gull Lake’s Riley Kornfeld sports a 3.59 GAA and a 5-3 record. Consul’s Ryan Chamberlin is 8-3 with a 3.78 GAA.
None of the league’s 18 goaltenders have posted a shutout this season.
This weekend’s White Mud schedule features six games in five different rinks. On Friday, Leader will visit Consul, Frontier travels to Gull Lake, and Eastend heads north to face Cabri.
The Shaunavon Badgers will visit the Leader Flyers in Saturday’s lone game. Sunday, the Badgers will visit the Consul Rockets in a marquee matchup, while Cabri visits the Frontier Flyers.
