The Swift Current Broncos continue to have little success in games extending past regulation after dropping a 2-1 shootout decision to the host Prince Albert Raiders on Tuesday night in Western Hockey League action.

Swift Current has only a single win to show for six overtime or shootout games, as they have dropped both games which have gone into a shootout and they are 1-3 in overtime.

Prince Albert's Leon Draisaitl handled all the scoring for the Raiders in the win, forcing overtime with a third period powerplay goal and then scoring the shootout winner. Draisaitl's third of the year with the man advantage helped the Raiders convert on their only powerplay opportunity of the game.

The trio of Graham Black, Brent Benson and Coda Gordon were all stopped in the shootout by Raiders netminder Luke Siemens, who turned aside 30 of 31 shots in regulation and overtime. Siemens is an impressive 9-3-0-2.

Broncos forward Levi Bews had given Swift Current a 1-0 second period lead when he notched his seventh of the season on the powerplay. Swift Current was one for four on the powerplay.

Broncos import goalie Eetu Laurikainen is 6-6-2-2 on the season after giving up one goal on 28 shots during the shootout loss.

The Broncos are now in a four-way tie for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 6-7-3-2 record, with the top nine teams in the Conference separated by only five points.

October was a roller coaster month for the Broncos, as they posted a 5-7-0-1 record during a busy 13 game schedule during the month.

The Broncos are 3-2-1-1 on the road, and are now hoping to improve on a 3-5-2-1 home record when they play three of their next four games on home ice. This weekend the Broncos host Seattle on Friday and the defending WHL Champion Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday.
