Legionnaires suffer first loss

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires suffered their first loss of the regular season with a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Regina Pat Canadians Thursday.

Swift Current Broncos prospect Jordan Wittman led the Legionnaires with a goal and an assist. Wittman currently sits fourth in league scoring with 10 points in six games.

Evan Patrick also scored, while Edwin Hookenson and Devin Deck both added assists.

Kyle Zinger suffered the loss, allowing four goals on 28 shots over 50:25. Luke Grassl worked 9:35 and allowed one goal on seven shots.

Logan Flodell earned the win with 25 saves on 27 shots.

Zachary Zborsky, Dylan Ostertag, Dylan Frey, Jayden Halbgewachs, and Mitch Lipon all scored for Regina, who finished two-for-five on the powerplay and held Swift Current scoreless on three man-advantages.

The Legionnaires dropped to 4-1-1-0 early in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League regular season, while Regina improved to 3-1-2-0.

Next action for the Legionnaires will be Saturday, Oct. 27 when they host the Moose Jaw Generals (5-2-0-0) at 8 p.m. at the Credit Union iplex.

They will be on the road the following day to visit the Generals at 1:30 p.m. at Mosaic Place.
