Broncos stumble out of the gate in losing 3-1 to Everett

The Everett Silvertips scored two early goals and turned in a defensive minded performance while upsetting the Swift Current Broncos 3-1 at the Credit Union iPlex on Wednesday night.

Swift Current found themselves trailing 1-0 when Everett's Joshua Winquist scored a shorthanded goal 2:32 into the game. Kohl Baumi helped the visitors open a 2-0 first period advantage by notching his third of the season at the 8:01 mark of the period. Baumi added an insurance empty net goal with 58 seconds left in regulation.

Broncos overage forward Chance Lund scored his third of the year for Swift Current's only goal of the contest.

Silvertips netminder Daniel Cotton improved to 2-2-0-0 after turning aside 27 of 28 shots. Broncos goaltender Eetu Laurikainen falls to 4-2-2-1 after yielding two goals on 27 shots.

The win improves Everett's record to 3-7-0-1, with all three of their victories coming on the road. Swift Current falls to 4-3-3-1 while suffering their first back-to-back losses of the season.
