Goaltender Steven Myland, one of the pieces of the blockbuster Cody Eakin trade in 2011, has been re-assigned by the Swift Current Broncos.

The Broncos announced earlier this afternoon the 18-year-old netminder has been re-assigned to the North Delta Devils of the Pacific Junior Ice Hockey League. In the pre-season he appeared in a trio of games, winning twice while allowing just three goals against in 117 minutes played, recording a 1.54 goals against average and a .947 save percentage.

Myland had appeared in a pair of regular games with the Broncos last year, posting a 5.41 goals against average and a 0-1-1-0 record and a .818 save percentage. Last year as a 17-year-old rookie with the PJIHL's Devils he posted a 6-4 record, posting a .923 save percentage and a 2.92 goals against average.

The 6’1”, 203-pound native of Cloverdale, BC native was acquired by the Broncos from the Kootenay Ice in the January 2011 Eakin trade. The lone remaining player on the Broncos active roster from that deal is Colby Cave. The other players involved in the trade have all been reassigned or released: Christian Magnus (released), Ryan Bloom (Drumheller AJHL), Jarett Zentner (Melfort Mustangs SJHL), Myland (re-assigned North Delta Devils PJIHL), Zack Gonek (re-assigned, St. Albert Raiders of the AMHL), Cavin Leth (re-assigned AJHL Drumheller Dragons) and Wyatt Sloboshan (Saskatoon Contacts Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League).

Swift Current Bronco General Manager and Head Coach Mark Lamb also announced that they have re-assigned 19-year-old defenceman Eric Walker to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL. Walker dressed for 26 games with the Broncos since being acquired in January 2012 from the Vancouver Giants. The 6’2”, 193-pound product of Castlegar, BC notched a single assist and 33 penalty minutes in a Bronco jersey.
