The Swift Current Broncos lost in overtime for a third time this season with a 2-1 loss to the Saskatoon Blades Saturday.
Josh Nicholls scored 2:28 into the extra frame as the Broncos are now 0-4 in overtime or shootout contests just five games into the regular season.
Rookie Landon Bow stole the show with 42 saves in his first Western Hockey League game. He held the Blades scoreless for 57:57 until Matej Stransky tipped in a powerplay shot to send the game to overtime.
"Out there everything felt perfect," said Bow of his WHL debut. "I felt like I was right in shape, ready to do everything. It was tough the way it ended, a little heartbreaking. But it is more of a mental thing for me, I am going to have to come out and I am going to remember this. I am going to keep working harder so this doesn't happen again."
Ryon Moser had given the Broncos a 1-0 lead on an outstanding individual effort 2:09 into the period as he beat Andrey Makarov through the five-hole to extend his point streak to five games to open the season.
"It has been pretty good for me," said the overage forward. "I have been playing with some pretty good players who have been helping me out getting some points. It sucks though when we are not winning, that is what I really care about. It is nice but at the same time I would like to get some wins here."
The Broncos will be on the road Friday to visit the Blades and back at home Saturday to host the Regina Pats.
