Legionnaires slide continues

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires dropped their eighth straight game in a 6-1 loss to the host Prince Albert Mintos on Monday.

Dexter Bricker scored the lone goal with an assist from Jordan Wittman. Luke Grassl suffered the loss with 36 saves on 42 shots.

The Legionnaires fell to 19-21-2-0 as they remain seventh in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with only two games remaining in the regular season. The Mintos moved into top spot with a 30-8-2-1 record.

The Legionnaires hold a one-point lead over the Saskatoon Blazers and lead the ninth-place Regina Pat Canadians by only five points.

The Legionnaires can wrap up their first playoff spot in eight seasons when the Blazers (17-19-3-2) visit the Credit Union iplex on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

The Blazers also have a game left against the Beardy's Blackhawks on Thursday. The Pats Canadians take on the Yorkton Harvest on Thursday and then will face the Moose Jaw Generals in a home-and-away weekend set.
