Legionnaires 2-0 in Kelowna

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires moved to 2-0 at the Kelowna International Major Midget Tournament with an 8-3 win over the Ridge Meadow Lordco Rustlers on Thursday morning.

Justin Spagrud, Tim Vanstone, and Jordan Wittman each had three-point outings, while Austin LaRochelle, Daylan Gatzke, Dexter Bricker, Matthew Audette, and Lukas Biensch added two points each.

They had opened the tournament with a 5-4 win over the Okanagan Hockey Academy on Wednesday.

The Legionnaires will have a busy day on Friday when they face the rival Notre Dame Hounds (2-0) at 8 a.m. and then take on the Thunder Bay Kings (1-1) at 4:30 p.m.

The Legionnaires will conclude the six-team round robin on Saturday against the Comox Valley Chiefs (0-2).

The semi-finals, featuring the top two teams from each six-team pool, are slated for Saturday evening with the championship final set for Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
