Swift Current's Travis Janke received an early Christmas present after earning recognition for a standout month with the Norwich University Cadets hockey team.
The Norwich Cadets sophomore was named the Vermont Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association's Vermont Open Division Athlete of the Month for November after helping his team jump out to a 6-0 start. During November he had five goals and 17 points during a six-game win streak. He is currently the Cadets leading scorer with six goals and 18 points in nine games.
Janke is in his second season with Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont after completing his Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League career with the Notre Dame Hounds.
As a rookie with the Cadets in 2010-2011, Janke had 12 goals and a team leading 27 assists over 31 games, tying for the team lead with 39 points. In his debut season he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference East Rookie of the Year after leading his conference in freshmen scoring, plus he was named to ECAC East All-Rookie team.
During his final season with the Notre Dame Hounds in 2009-2010 he was the SJHL's leading scorer with 36 goals and 83 points.
