The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats took full advantage of a weekend set against the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League’s only winless team. The Wildcats, who entered the weekend with only a single win in 13 attempts, swept the host Battleford Sharks to drop them to 0-12-0-0 this season.

Saturday, the Wildcats were held scoreless for the opening 42:47 before Karlee Anderson scored a powerplay goal. Delaine Feil added an unassisted marker in the final minutes as the Wildcats edged the Sharks 2-0.  Carley Bertram had the lone assist for the Wildcats.

Brooklyn Weisgerber earned the shutout with 19 saves, while Jacy Akre suffered the loss with 21 saves on 23 shots.

Sunday, the Wildcats took a 2-0 lead and turned a 33-save performance into another two points in a 2-1 win.

Darby Lemay notched an unassisted marker in the first period and Amber Froehlich scored with only five seconds remaining in the middle stanza. Shania Rhinehart replied for the Sharks with a powerplay goal in the third period, but the Wildcats held on for the win. Bertram and Jill Kennedy added assists for the Wildcats, who improved to 3-12-0-0 and remain seventh in the SFMAAAHL.

Weisgerber improved to 3-6 with a 2.93 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

The Sharks will make a return visit to Swift Current this weekend. The two teams will face-off on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. and Sunday at 3:15 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
