The Swift Current Kabos Raiders didn’t get the results they wanted at their annual home tournament over the weekend.

The Raiders won their tournament opener before coming out on the wrong end of three close games to finish sixth out of eight teams.

Their tournament ended with a 3-1 loss to the Regina Hurricanes on Sunday morning.

They finished third in their pool with a 1-2 record. The Raiders opened the tournament with a 7-2 win over Edmonton SSAC on Friday.

Saturday, they lost 3-2 to Notre Dame and 5-4 to the Calgary Sabres.

“I thought overall it was an inconsistent effort for us,” said Raiders head coach Kent Woods. “We had a couple of pretty good games and two that were very average. We probably lacked a lot of mental preparation in those two and really weren’t focused as much as we could be.”

Slow starts plagued the Raiders said captain Carter Doerksen.

“We just need to play a full 60 minutes, come out hard in the first, and we can’t leave it until the third period to start playing well.”
