Hurricanes take five of six points

It was a strong weekend for the Swift Current K-Motel Hurricanes as they took five of six points in a trio a South Sask AA Midget Hockey League games.

Friday the Hurricanes tied the host Lumsden Lions 4-4 led by two goals from Nick Mackay and a goal and two assists from Bryce Moberg. Baydin Pastuck had a single goal, with single assists from Chad Schultz, Daylan Gatzke, Brady Seib, Jordan Sawers, and Jayden Roosen.

Saturday goaltender Myles Hovdebo and the Hurricanes shutout the host Regina Wild as Lane Harbor and Moberg each tallied a goal and two assists, followed by a goal and an assist from Fournier. Roosen had a single goal, with singles assists from Schultz, Dalton Kaake, and Seib.

Sunday the host Hurricanes routed the Regina Avalanche 7-1 as Mackay scored the first four goals and assisted on the next three in a seven-point outing. Mackay now sits fifth in league scoring with 23 goals and 19 assists in 23 games.

Fournier added two goals and two helpers, and Moberg contributed two goals and an assist. Schultz had two assists, followed by Ian Fargey with a single helper.

Hovdebo made 34 saves in the win.

The busy weekend leaves the Hurricanes in fifth-place with a 15-7-4 record. They will be back in Regina this Sunday to face the 11th-place Regina Flames (6-13-6) in their only weekend action.
