Eston’s Jehremy Ryde, currently golfing out of Swift Current, was the top Southwest golfer at the 101st edition of the Saskatchewan Amateur Men’s Championship at the Deer Park Municipal Golf Course in Yorkton this week.
Ryde finished 34th overall with a four-round, 16-over-par total of 304. Saskatoon’s Tyler Frank won the tournament by a single shot at nine-under (72-69-67-71=279) ahead of Cowessess’ Cadmus Delorme and Saskatoon’s Jesse Gibson.
Ryde was tied for 24th with a three-over 75 on day one after a 41 on the front nine and a 34 on the back. He moved into a 13th place tie on day two with a one-under 71 to sit 10 shots back of the lead. Ryde dropped back with a 79 on day three to fall to nine-over-par heading into the final day tied for 29th. He finished up the tournament on Thursday with another 79 to finish 16-over.
Swift Current’s Taylor Smith missed the cut, which was 229, at 14-over par. He was tied for 51st after one round with a nine-over 81 on day one. Smith improved by eight shots for a one-over 73 to sit 10-over after two days. He shot a 76 on day three to miss the cut.
Swift Current’s Kory Blake McMillan missed the cut as well at 17-over. McMillan was tied for 57th after day one with a 10-over 82. McMillan lowered his score by eight shots as well on day two with a 74 to sit 12-over. He shot a 77 on day three to miss the cut.
