The Swift Current Comp. boy’s and girl's golf teams found success at the 2010 Grass Green District Golf Playoffs in Shaunavon on Tuesday.
The Colts won the boy’s team event with an accumulative score of 231 to finish 23 shots ahead of Leader with a score of 254. Shaunavon placed third in 309 strokes, and Gull Lake was fourth with a 324 score.
Swift Current’s Jessy Lee Lacher placed first overall with a 75 to edge teammate Cody Schapansky by one shot. Leader’s Cody Marshall fired a 35 on the back nine to tie for second in 76 strokes.
Swift Current’s Tyler Bardahl provided one of the highlights of the tournament with a hole-in-one on the Rock Creek Golf Course’s ninth hole on his way to an 84 to place fifth.
On the girls side the Ardens team easily earned top spot with a score of 311. Ponteix was second with a 402 total.
Swift Current’s Rachel Cronan recovered from a 54 on the front nine with a 45 on the back nine to earn a one-shot victory with an 18-hole total of 99. Allyssa Fournier of Ponteix placed second with a score of 100, while Swift Current’s Lacey Duncan placed third with a 110.
The Frontier Raiders golf team dominated the leader board at the Sand Green District Golf Playoffs on their home course on Monday.
The Raiders won the team competition with a score of 326 as they took five of the top six spots in the boy’s and girl’s individual competition. Cabri placed second with a 409 total.
The Raiders swept all three top spots on the girls’ side, led by Dana Dale with a 41 on the back nine for an 18-hole total of 87. Teammates Hope Anderson and Cassidy Onerheim tied for second in 98 strokes apiece.
Frontier’s Devin Casat was the top performer on the boy’s side with a 39 on the back nine on his way to a seven-stroke victory with an 81. Cabri’s Ryan Svenson and Frontier’s Kaden Ham tied for second as they fired identical scores of 88.
