Schapansky earns third place age group win at SGI Canada Junior Order of Merit Tour Championship

Swift Current’s Cody Schapansky golfed his way to a third place age group finish at the 2010 SGI Canada Junior Order of Merit Tour Championship.

Schapansky placed third in the 16-year-old age group at the provincial event hosted at the Deer Valley Golf Course and the Royal Regina Golf Course.

On Wednesday he shot a six-over-par 78 to sit in a two-way tie for first in the field of 28 golfers. During the final round of the 36-hole event Schapansky shot a 76 to card a two-day 154 to finish three shots of the winning score. Aaron Vogel from Regina won the age group with a 151, one shot better than runner-up Regina’s Daegan Wall who had a 152.

Swift Current’s Jessy-Lee Lacher fired a two-day 178 to finish 24th in the age group, but his round two score was six strokes better than his opening round.

In the 14-year-old age group, a pair of Southwest golfers finished in the middle of 28-golfer field. Swift Current’s Logan Tisdale placed 15th with a two-day 184 (96-88). Corey Bailey from Shaunavon also shot a two-round 184 (92-92), placing the Rock Creek Golf Club junior 16th.

In the 12-year-old category, Taylor Kinch from Swift Current placed sixth thanks to a two-day 196. Kyle Tisdale, also from Swift Current, was tenth.
