Rumancik tops Junior Men's Order of Merit Tour Championship

Brennan Rumancik of Maple Creek scored a one stroke victory in the Junior Men's division of the SGI Canada Junior Order of Merit Tour Championship in Regina.

Brennan Rumancik of Maple Creek scored a one stroke victory in the Junior Men's division of the SGI Canada Junior Order of Merit Tour Championship in Regina.

Rumancik fired a second round 69 to score a come-from-behind win during the two day tournament with a 142. He opened play with a 73 and was two strokes behind day one leader Troy Bulmer of Saskatoon.

The first round of the championship was played at the Murray Municipal Golf Course on Wednesday, with the Royal Regina Golf Club hosting the second round of action on Thursday.

Swift Current’s Katieleigh Avram placed third in the Junior Women's division with a two day 162, four strokes behind Saskatoon's Anna Young.

Avram shot rounds of 79 and 83 and was the top player in the 17-18 year age group.

Herbert's Kaitlyn Jahnke fired rounds of 85 and 82 to finish with a 167, good enough for fifth overall in the junior women's event.

Maple Creek's Julia Rongve, who golfed in the junior women's 12 and under division, claimed the junior women's net title.

Other local junior men competing in Regina are:

Mickey Wallace, Swift Current - 79-77=156 (seventh in 17-18 age group);

Cody Shapansky, Swift Current - 80-76=156 (fifth in 15-16 age division);

Taras Burton, Maple Creek - 80-76=156 (seventh in 15-16 age division);

Jesse-Lee Lacher, Swift Current - 90-86=176 (19th in 13-14 age group);

Tyson Empey, Swift Current - 88-92=180 (22nd in 13-14 age group);

Blake Fournier, Maple Creek - 96-86=182 (25th in 13-14 age group);

Erich Walde, Swift Current - 122-106=229 (32nd in 13-14 age group).
