With the Early Bird League Registration Deadline fast approaching, Swift Current Minor Football is making it even easier for parents to sign their kids up prior to the June 15th deadline. Registrations paid in full prior to June 15th are just $150, which includes equipment rental. After June 15th, that fee increases to $175.
To simplify registrations for parents, the league has just launched online registrations. Parents can go to www.scmf.ca and register their children using a paypal account or credit card.
âWe've recognized that everyone's lives are pretty hectic these days. This is a chance for parents to get their kids signed up quickly and check one more thing off the list,â says League President, Elden Moberg. âIt's also important for us to get as many registrations in as possible prior to the deadline, giving us time to get a gauge on our need for players, coaches and field schedules.â
The league's board has also determined that the league will operate â6-manâ football at the introductory Atom level. This decision was made to open up the game and increase scoring for the younger players.
âWe'd found with the younger group of kids, who are still learning the game, positioning and how to block, scoring was quite low. And when you're learning a new sport, scoring points is the fun and exciting part. With this change we want to ensure the kids are having fun and that in turn will increase the chances they'll stick with it as they get older,â added Moberg.
The Swift Current Minor Football season begins with practices Tuesday, August 21st and runs through Sunday, October 14th. Practices are Tuesday's and Thursday's while games are Sunday afternoon.
