The Swift Current Comp. Colts looked dominant in an exhibition win over the Martin Collegiate Monarchs from Regina.
It may have only been an exhibition game, but the Swift Current Comp. Colts football team appears ready for the regular season after a convincing win over Regina’s Martin Collegiate Monarchs on Friday.
The Colts scored early and often as they took advantage of the Monarchs inability to hold onto the ball on offense, jumping out to a 22-0 halftime lead. The Colts were equally as dominant in the second half as they added 20 more points, allowing only a single touchdown in the dying seconds, on their way to a 42-6 win at Colts Field.
“It was good,” said Colts captain Kurtis Wegren, who played both ways at right tackle and rush end. “We know that they just came out this year with a new coaching staff and they are young. We played well but we are still going to have to get better.”
The Colts’ Moose Jaw High School Football League regular season opener will be on Thursday, September 1 when they host the Estevan Elecs at 4:30 p.m. at Colts Field.
