The Swift Current Colts gained a season high 191 yards on the ground while galloping to a 13-0 win over the visiting Estevan Elecs on Friday afternoon.

The win gives the Colts their first win in the Moose Jaw High School Football League and improves their season record to 1-3, while Estevan has dropped all four of their league games.

Colts quarterback Josh Siemens used his legs to score the first points of the game, rolling out of the pocket and winning a foot race while zig zagging his way for an 83 yard major with 2:37 left in the first quarter. The extra point by Tanner Graf made it a 7-0 lead.

The middle part of the contest was primarily a defensive battle, with both teams forcing turnovers and containing the opposition offences.

Swift Current running back Dalton Fisher capped an eight play drive with a two yard sweep on a third down gamble to increase the Colts lead to 13-0. Fisher was handed the ball seven times on the eight play drive, adding the insurance points with 5:22 left in regulation.

Offensively, the Colts racked up 237 yards in total offense, gaining 191 yards on the ground on 31 rushes, while Siemens completed four of 16 passes for 46 yards. Swift Current's offense also produced eight first downs.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Colts stopped five of six Estevan third down gambles and they limited the visitors to just 134 yards in total offense. Estevan gained just 17 yards on 26 rushing attempts, and they produced 117 yards in passing offence after completing seven of 28 throws. Defensive back Connor Chau also recorded an interception during Estevan's first offensive possession.

The Colts hope to carry momentum into a Thursday game against the 4-0 Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings.
