The playoff road ended for both Southwest nine-man football teams on Saturday.
The SWAC league champion Maple Creek Redmen had their hands full against perennial powerhouse Foam Lake and dropped a 64-21 decision. Foam Lake relied on a strong run offence to pull away in an offensive showdown.
The Shaunavon Shadows gave up 21 unanswered second half points in dropping a 27-5 decision to the host Humboldt Mohawks.
Trailing by a 6-5 count after the opening half, the Shadows could not make the right halftime adjustments while dropping the game during a cold day on slippery field conditions.
