The Swift Current Comp. Colts football team looks to extend a two-game winning streak this weekend on the road against the host Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings.
The Colts and Vikings will be battling for second-place in the Moose Jaw High School Football League behind unbeaten A.E. Peacock.
The Colts enter the game with a 2-1 record having scored 55 points and allowed 45.
The Vikings are coming off a 36-14 loss to Peacock that lowered their record to 2-2 with 100 points for and 70 against.
“We know that Vanier has two very quick, agile running backs,” said head coach Derek Murdoch. “Our focus will be on stopping the run this week, as both of their backs can come up with big plays. Offensively, we just want to keep spreading the ball around finding the balance between running and throwing the football.”

The Colts are chasing down a home playoff game this season, which under new league rules would be the first time they would be allowed to host one if they finish in fourth, second, or first-place in the regular season.
“A home playoff game would obviously be very exciting,” agreed Murdoch. “It hasn't happened here for a very long time and it would be nice to have a home crowd cheering us on. There are some things that go with it, like maybe some added pressure on the guys, but getting to stay here would be worth it. Hosting a playoff game is a goal of ours, but we know we have football games that we need to focus on individually in order for this to happen.”
Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. on Friday in Moose Jaw.
