The Organizing Committee of the 2009 Telus Cup Regionals announced Monday that they will be honoring seven members of the Swift Current Legionnaire Alumni at this year's Telus Cup Regional Qualifying Tournament which will be held April 2-5 in Swift Current at the Credit Union iplex.

The Telus Cup Regional Qualifying Tournament will include AAA midget league champions from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northern Ontario as well the host Swift Current Home Hardware Midget Legionnaires. These teams will be taking part to see which team will advance to the National Telus Cup Tournament, April 20-26 in Selkirk and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

"Syl Kammerer, Biss Wiskar, Herb Butz, Harry Barrett, Greg Woods, Norm Buchanan and Barry Flichel are amongst the numerous players, coaches and managers that have helped build the great tradition that the Legionnaires have built over the years," says George Bowditch on behalf of the Telus Cup Organizing Committee.

The banquet, which is being held Saturday evening for the participants of the Telus Cup Regional Qualifying Tournament, is also inviting all former Legionnaire Alumni as well. This will be a great opportunity for Legionnaire Alumni to gather together and share memories of the past as well as cheer on the present edition of the Legionnaires.

Alumni are encouraged to contact Jamie LeBlanc at j.leblanc@sasktel.net to make arrangements to participate.
