Approximately 300 children turned out in their Frontier Days best to participate in the annual Kiddies Day Parade on June 26.

A pproximately 300 children turned out in their Frontier Days best to participate in the annual Kiddies Day Parade on June 26.

The event, organized by the Beta Sigma Phi and sponsored by the Swift Current Ag and Ex, was a colourful beginning to the Frontier Days celebrations in Swift Current.

The parade was led by the RCMP along with a combined band featuring students from O.M. Irwin, Fairview and St. Joseph's Schools (led by Ross Kuglin and Aaron Thingelstad).

Awards were presented in the following categories.

Decorated Bicycle (Boy): First - Davin Garven; Second - Grady Rogers; Third - Paul Piche; Special Mention: Carson Hadden and Chase Coward.

Decorated Bicycle (Girl): First - Tara Marshall; Second - Bansley girls; Third - Cassie Meyer; Special Mention: Lindsay Chabot and CC Barrington.

Motorized Vehicle: First - Cade Schindel; Second - Krishtin Hockridge; Third - Jayesh Budhrani; Special Mention: Jace Schindel and Rece Schindel.

Parade Theme: First - Kyler, Alex and Dylan Westbury; Second - Ethan and Carlee Ross; Third - Katie Dusautels; Special Mention: Jacksyn Schultz.

Costume: First - Milan Yeo; Second - Conor Luchsinger; Third - Kira Demorest and Taylor Rosen; Special Mention: Joclyn Hargreaves, Cassie Taylor and Chandler Davison.

Decorated Float: First - McKenzie Wall, Wynter Blyth and Amanda Angell; Second - Keith Adam; Third - Drayton Dahl; Special Mention: Brittany and Kelly Nicoll and Sierra and Charlee Pleasance.

Pet Entry: First - Kaylee and Alan Johnson, Bianca and Sophia Olfert; Second - Brad and Casey Dyck; Third - Kyle Krause; Special Mention: Courtnee and Sydnie Slinkard and Anna Bolton.

Roller Blades/Scooters: First - Luke Bloom; Second - Carter Munroe and Tess Bakus; Third - Ashton Krahn; Special Mention: Veda and Isabelle Gottselig.

The Kinsmen Train, driven by Ben Laviolette, was on hand to provide free rides to individuals who did not want to walk the parade route.

When the parade finished, ice cream treats were provided to all participants courtesy of Stark and Marsh.
