Max Kirkpatrick dropped his second straight game at the SaskTel Tankard Provincial Men's Curling Championship in Shaunavon Thursday.
The Swift Current rink lost 8-7 to Saskatoon's Kevin Marsh to drop out of the B Event. Kirkpatrick led 3-2 after four ends but Marsh scored three in the fifth and three more in the seventh for a commanding 8-4 lead. The Swift Current rink battled back with a single in the eighth and then stole singles in the ninth and 10th ends to fall just short.
Kirkpatrick will open the C Event of the 16-team triple elimination tournament on Friday at 8 a.m. against Mike Armstrong, his third consecutive opponent from the Nutana Curling Club.
Kirkpatrick had dropped his tournament opener 8-4 to Bruce Korte on Wednesday. He will now need four straight wins to qualify for the Championship Event.
