The Swift Current rink skipped by TeeJay Haichert is rolling along in the opening stages of the  2014 Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Tisdale. Haichert won both games Thursday to improve to 3-0 atop the Pool B standings.

Haichert moved to 2-0 Friday morning with a 7-5 win over Balgonie’s Mandy Selzer after blanking the ninth end with the hammer and then scoring two in the 10th end. The game got out to an exciting start when Haichert scored two in the first and Selzer responded with three in the second end. Selzer increased her lead to 4-2 when she stole one in the fourth before Haichert tied up the game with two in the fifth. The two rinks traded points in the seventh and eighth ends before Haichert scored the win in the final end.

She repeated the feat in the evening draw by stealing two in the 10th for a 6-4 win over Regina's Lana Vey. Vey led 4-2 after five ends by Haichert scored one in the seventh, stole one in the eighth to tie the game and then blanked the ninth before stealing a pair in the 10th to remain unbeaten.

Saskatoon's Stefanie Lawton sits alone atop Pool A with a 3-0 record as well.

Haichert is joined by lead Allison McMillan, second Kelsey Dutton, and third Janelle Tyler. The team is coached by Ken Dutton. The Swift Current rink will conclude the round robin Friday against Regina's Michelle Englot (2-1) at 9:30 a.m. and Chantelle Eberle (2-1) at 2 p.m.
