Swift Current rink improves to 8-2, tied for top spot with Alberta

The Swift Current rink of lead Kelsey Dutton, second Carl deConnick Smith, third Kelly Wood and skip Shaun Meachem are competing in the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship hosted at Ottawa's Rideau Curling Club from Nov. 14 to 23.

Swift Current's Shaun Meachem rink scored one point in the eighth end and stole another in the ninth to edge Quebec 7-5 at the 2014 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Ottawa.

Meachem improved to 8-2 and sits tied for top spot with Alberta at the 12-team event at the Rideau Curling Club in Ottawa. Meachem trailed 3-1 after four ends before scoring these in the fifth end and stealing one in the sixth. Quebec tied the game 5-5 with two in the seventh before Saskatchewan scored the final two points.

Meachem is joined by third Kelly Wood, second Carl deConnick Smith, and lead Kelsey Dutton.

They will wrap up the round robin on Friday morning against the 3-6 rink from Northern Ontario.
