The Swift Current rink of lead Kelsey Dutton, second Carl deConnick Smith, third Kelly Wood and skip Shaun Meachem are competing in the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship hosted at Ottawa's Rideau Curling Club from Nov. 14 to 23.
In a key Draw 14 match between Swift Current's Shaun Meachem rink scored a 5-3 win over Team New Brunswick to remain in the top three at the 2014 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Ottawa.
Team Saskatchewan now enjoys an 7-2 record and moves into a second place tie with Quebec, with Meachem battling Quebec's Mike Fournier in an afternoon draw.
In the win over New Brunswick, Meachem took a single in the first and with the game tied 1-1 after three ends he counted an important two ender in the fifth. The teams traded singled in the sixth and seventh ends, with New Brunswick then taking a single in the ninth to make it a 4-3 game. Saskatchewan put the game away with a single in the tenth and the 5-3 victory.

Saskatchewan was looking to rebound from a topsy turvy Wednesday on the ice, opening with a 9-3 drubbing by Ontario's Cory Heggestad during Draw 11 in the morning, but rebounding with an 8-6 win over the Northwest Territories thanks to steals of singles in the sixth, seventh, and eighth ends.
Following play today the Meachem foursome wrap up the round robin on Friday morning against Northern Ontario.
