Shawn Meachem's Swift Current rink has advanced to this afternoon's A Event Qualifier at the Tim Hortons Provincial Mixed Curling Championship in Eston after a perfect 3-0 start.
Meachem scored two-point ends in the second, fourth and seventh ends enroute to a 7-3 win over Kronau's Jamie Schneider in an A Event Semi-Final on Thursday night. The win sets up a match-up between Meachem and Brent Kolodziejski from Arborfield in this afternoon's showdown which places the winner into the Page Playoff round.
Meachem is supported by third Kelly Wood, second Carl deConnick Smith, and lead Kelsey Dutton.
Meachem opened play on Wednesday with an 11-4 win over the Jade Telke rink from Kyle, and they scored an 8-7 extra end win over the Darren Engel rink on Thursday morning.
Telke's rink bounced back from their opening loss with a wildly offensive 9-7 game against Leo Perrin skipped team from Shellbrook where Telke scored a decisive five points in the seventh end.
The Telke foursome which features Telke throwing third stones, Reagan Hadden throwing skip rocks, with Joel Denning at second and Drew Hamilton at lead, is on the ice versus Jeff Tait from Regina's Highland Curling Club in B event play this morning.
