The Ken Koster rink from the Swift Current Curling Club is down to its last life  at the 2013 Affinity Credit Union Senior Men's Southern Playdowns in Moosomin.

Koster and the rink of third Dan Kennedy, second Mitch Minken and lead Rod Quintin are one of the 16-rinks at the triple-knockout bonspiel to determine the four Southern teams advancing to the Affinity CU Senior Men's Provincial Championship in Assiniboia on Feb. 20 to 24.

He faced Regina’s Vaughn Herauf in the B Event quarterfinal Saturday afternoon and trailed from start to finish in a 7-2 loss in eight ends.  Koster trailed 2-0 after two ends before a scoreless third end. Koster scored one in the fourth before Herauf widened his lead to 4-1 with two in the fifth. Koster scored in the sixth to make it 4-2 but Herauf added a single in the seventh and then stole two in the eighth for a 7-2 final.

Koster’s tournament will be on the line Saturday evening when he faces Regina’s Al Kehler in the C Event needing three straight wins to advance to the Provincial Championship.
