Swift Current’s Ken Koster got out to a great start on his way to an 8-4 win over Lumsden’s Rick Day to open the B Event during the Friday afternoon draw at the 2013 Affinity Credit Union Senior Men's Southern Playdowns in Moosomin.

It was a bounce back performance for Koster after losing 8-3 to Al Schick to open the tournament on Thursday.

Koster opened Friday's game with the hammer and scored two in the first end and stole one in the second for a quick 3-0 lead. He stole three in the third and two more in the fourth for a commanding 8-0 lead after four ends. Day answered back with singles in the fifth and sixth and two in the seventh before shaking hands after seven ends.

Koster and the rink of third Dan Kennedy, second Mitch Minken and lead Rod Quintin are one of the 16-rinks at the triple-knockout bonspiel to determine the four Southern teams advancing to the Affinity CU Senior Men's Provincial Championship in Assiniboia on Feb. 20 to 24.

The Koster rink will be back on the ice in Moosomin at 9 p.m. against  Whitewood’s Trent Brister.
