Former Swift Current Broncos goaltender Todd Ford has been named the East Coast Hockey League’s top goaltender.
Ford, who played three seasons in Swift Current from 2000-03, was named the Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Year, as award voted on by ECHL coaches.
Ford was 18-7-2 with one shutout in 28 games with the South Carolina Stingrays this season. He finished second in the ECHL with a .910 save percentage, fifth with a 2.79 goals against average, and fifth with an .889 save percentage in shootouts.
Ford, 25, was also voted First Team All-ECHL and was the starting goaltender in the ECHL All-Star Game.
The Calgary native also played 15 games in the American Hockey League this season with the Texas Stars and the Portland Pirates where he compiled a 7-5-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.51 GAA, and a .920 save percentage.
After his time with the Broncos Ford also played in the Western Hockey League with the Prince George Cougars and Vancouver Giants. He has suited up in the ECHL with the Pensacola Ice Pilots, Columbia Inferno, and Victoria Salmon Kings. The third round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs, 74th overall in 2002, has also spent time in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies.
