Swift Current Broncos overage forward Michael Stickland has been chosen as the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week.
In an announcement on Wednesday, the overage forward was named the CHL's Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 28. He was singled out after scoring seven points in a pair of weekend home ice wins.
At the start of the week Stickland was selected as the Boston Pizza WHL Player of the Week following his strong weekend performance where he notched two goals and five assists and a +4 rating.
On Friday, Stickland had a four-point game, highlighted by his 19th and 20th goals of the season in a 6-4 win over the visiting Regina Pats.
Stickland had a three assist game and was selected as the first star during the Broncos 5-3 upset win over Vancouver on Saturday.
The 20-year-old is fifth in team scoring with 20 goals and 48 points.
The Broncos have now won six of their last eight games and are currently holding down eighth spot in the Eastern Conference standings with a 34-29-0-4 mark.
Stickland is the first Bronco to earn CHL/WHL Player of the Week recognition this year. He was the eighth WHL player to win the CHL honours among the 23 players recognized this season.
The fourth year WHL veteran joined the Broncos in a mid-season trade with the Kootenay Ice last season.
