Eakin inks contract with Washington Capitals

Swift Current Broncos forward Cody Eakin has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals.

The announcement was made today by Capitals Vice President and General Manager George McPhee. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed as is the club policy.

Eakin was drafted by the Capitals in the third round, 85th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Eakin, in his third season with the Broncos, is leading the Broncos with nine goals and has 12 points in 12 games this season.

Swift Current Broncos General Manager and Head Coach says the hockey club is very happy for Eakin.

"We are very happy for Cody. It is special for a player to not only get drafted but sign an NHL deal. It is good to see a player of his caliber get rewarded with a contract from a great organization such as Washington."
