A trio of goals during a 2:10 span midway through the opening period gave the Swift Current Broncos an early lead enroute to a 7-2 win over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Cody Eakin scored his team leading third and fourth goals of the season while notching a four-point contest.

Linemate Geordie Wudrick aided the Broncos offense with two goals and one assist. Michael Stickland, Mike Brown, and rookie defenseman Reece Scarlett, with his first career WHL goal, all scored in the win.

"I just wanted to get the puck to the net and luckily it went in," said Scarlett, 16, of his seeing-eye point shot that gave the Broncos a 2-0 lead.

"The team's game was just unbelievable and I was just on the ice at the right time. It was a team effort that came through today," said Scarlett, who was plus-four in the contest.

Brody Sutter and Ryan Moser replied for the Hurricanes.

Broncos goaltender Morgan Clark posted the win by turning aside 32 shots. He improved to 2-1 on the season and the game marked his 100th game of his WHL career.

"I felt good out there, especially in the second period when they had a lot of chances late, I think I played pretty well there," said Clark. "Overall I think that our defense really stepped up tonight and it was by far their best game of the season."

Hurricanes starting netminder Ville Kolppanen took the loss after giving up three goals on 15 shots during the opening period. Michael Tadjdeh was in net for the final two periods, giving up four goals on 18 shots.

Swift Current ended a two game losing streak and improved to 2-2 on the season.

Lethbridge remains the only WHL team without a point this season after falling to 0-4.

Friday the Broncos will be in Regina to face the Pats.
